Casey Trela is a singer-songwriter who began performing with a four-piece backing band last year. This new project, known as TUFT, was created after Trela left behind his former moniker Hi Ho Silver Oh. Attached to the name change is a drastic shift in style; TUFT is rooted in folk music but manifests itself as lush, brooding, post-rock influenced indie. Trela's cosmic, breezy falsetto carries the slow-burning tracks from peppy choral arrangements to searing, guitar-led breakdowns. TUFT is an especially unique performance to watch due to the interaction between band-mates. They have a casual but well-rehearsed dynamic that allows for playful instrumental interplay and explosive dynamism that's effortlessly in sync.
